Growing Old Gracefully

It always disappoints me to hear someone reminisce about their past as if their present and future are that much more dismal because they have merely grown older.  High school might have seemed fun, but don’t you remember having to be driven around by your parents all the time, or having to have sex in parking lots because boys were forbidden in the house?  Why is it so hard to accept aging as a time of opportunity gained, not lost?

I embrace growing older to its fullest.  I look forward to the things I am able to do as I get older - own a home, invest in the stock market, travel at my leisure, drink 12 cocktails without consequences. When I am too old to move, I will look back on my life and smile at how much I enjoyed it by not letting numbers get in the way of my happiness.

Instead of shirking at the future, promise to fill your life with exciting adventures.  You’d be surprised at the amount of things you can do at age 30, 40, 50, 60…
